brake booster question

1970 charger drums on all 4 corners. 1ST mopar with a booster. My question is whats the nut on the end of the push rod that gos into the MC for? I screwed it all the way on because I seen threads. Was I wrong doing this? And were can I buy the gasket for between the booster and NC. Thanks Pic is for display

It is adjustable for different master cylinder depths. You want about .025 clearance to the bore of the master cylinder for best performance. This article explains it well.
