Well, I rebuilt everything on my brake system. Even the power booster. I pulled the entire brake pedal assembly and bracket to get to the bolts on the booster and I can't seem to get it back together correctly.
I thought the new booster was bad but now I thing I have screwed up putting the linkage back together. I could very much be the rod lengths on the MC rod or on the pedal rod into the booster. How the heck do I adjust those if I have no idea what they were. The pedal is way down and if I pull it back hard with my hand, the idle changes a little The pedal is about 2 inches off the floor and although the brakes work fine (as manual brakes, no power), I;m thinking the two rods need adjusting.
Also, I put the linkage back together incorrectly one time and it may still not be right. Such as the spring. I have it going from the rod that bolts to the pedal and to the top of the bracket assembly. Does that sound right?
Does anyone know where I can find an exploded assembly picture? That would help but still not sure about the rod adjustments from the linkage pivot into the booster and the rod from the booster to the MC.
This thing is driving me crazy. The car had no brakes when I got it so I have no idea where the pedal should be on a normal car.
BTW I have about 18" of vacuum to the booster off the manifold, have replaced the vacuum valve from the hose to the booster (which I didn't know was a valve).
Please help,
Brad
