Hey guys

Been a while. With a year off I am back on the saddle again.

My original block is cracked. So out looking for a good used block.

Found one but the one passenger side motor mount ear is broken off.
Can this be re welded with a new one from my old block as a donor?
Or is it motor plate the way I should go?

Doing a stroker to a 496.

It can be welded. If you don't mind doing a motor plate, why not go that route?

Where is your original block cracked? It most likely can be repaired.

Yea it can be welded. Use a torch heat the area to cherry red and weld with
A high nickel rod let cool as slow as possible

The crack itself can be welded IF the area as said here is heated to a cherry red state weld fast, cool slow, KEEP heating area at temp while welding and "stitch" weld it if need be....

I hope the crack ISN'T in a cylinder wall?

Passenger side.....just one ear is broken off? The driver's side is the one that's usually broken since it tries to pull them off every time you nail the throttle but the passenger side is usually in compression and is usually not a big deal.
