Not "tropical" enough for gardens for the most part but I have seen them in Greenhouse type gardens and displays. Very cool and beautiful plants.
 
I got some, and speaking of that family, I got 4 more pineapples this season making the total 12.

I think it'd be so cool to grow pineapples, I had a artichoke plant for a few years, that was fun!
 
I'm a "black thumb", too.

I even killed ferns.

But pineapples are crazy easy.

I've even dug up a few that looked dead, and tossed them away, only to find them back and green a few months later.

You just scratch the ground with your heel, and stick the plant in the indentation...then walk away!

Nothing else...ever...until it fruits...then pick.
