Ok you guys who repair your trucks yourselves like me… Over the years I have had these tensioners go bad and eat alternator bearings, A/C compressor bearings and now my sons went bad on his ‘06 Ram 2500 Cummins and ate the water pump. I assume that is what does them in as EVERY time the tensioner was froze. So today I tore it apart and put it back together since it wasn’t raining or blowing 50mph. Lol. Anyway I had to put a pipe on it to break it free to get the belt off. Pump wasn’t bad but putting the new belt back on SUCKED. So I wanted to ask when do they typically go bad? I have over 130,000 now on my 2017 Ram 2500 should I throw one on there? Thanks in advance.
