Anyone use this cam ?
For a big block , 505
276/276@050,613 lift

Tex

No never used it

do you have enough cylinder head, gear & convert etc. ?
to go with the camshaft so it doesn't run out of port/flow etc.

what else is done to the 505ci ?,
car details ?
maybe more details, to refresh our memory

maybe IQ52 will chime in too

Hey guys ,
No roller Mike , its a daily driver . Bracket racer car so solid ft .
Budnicks , 505ci ,4.25 stroke , 7.1 rod , near enough to zero deck , 11_11.2:1 comp . Heads are cnc stealths done by modern , 319@600-321@650.250cc port1.5 crane rockers . Got a victor and M1 single plane intakes , prosystem hp1000 based car , also have a 1050 dom to try with an adaptor . Plus a dual quad modman . 5000 stall vert , 28" radials with 4.1 gears .
In my 68 Satellite , 3660lbs or so with me

Tex

should have enough head to go more if need be

IMO the tire is probably going to be the limiting factor
anyway;

like I said never used that specific duration etc. type cam
BUT;

Comp had a similar cam "well kind of" 590/609 IIRC
{bit more duration @ 0.050" thou I think too, going off memory}
shows like 7200 rpm for peak power {but maybe a bit smaller ci too}
but what kind of RPM's do you want to be at crossing the line ?
that tire & gear is like 6500 @ 10.0
& maybe 135-mph {prob. less thou} if the converter is mostly locked up
in a 3500# car

I really hate doing camshaft recommendations
just trying to get as much info as possible
hope it helps some

good luck

Hey Budnicks
I am thinking 10.50's @ 126-127ish should be 6600-6700on the 28"radial . I could always fit a 29.5"radial , may need that to help launch anyway .
10.00's i doubt. Will have to put a rollbar in so will still be up 3700lbs+
Thanks

Tex

I have to disagree with you budnicks. I think its a 10.90 car.
How much experiece do you have driving it? Thats plays a huge role.

Sorry Budnicks,
You didnt post the 10.50 time.
Tex,
I think 10.50 is ambitious. Hopefully Im wrong.

Besides the cubes, what are the differences between the motors?

3700 #'s
Anywhere you can trim a bit of weight ?
It's usually cheaper than HP increases too,
it never hurts, it's always about power to weight ratios...

anyway thanks for the details,
I was just spit-balling anyway, what if type deal
I think 10.50's aren't out of possibility either, if the car works well,
especially in the 1st 330 ft, that's where you'll make up a ton of et...

good luck

Budnicks,
no more easy weight loss , already got glass hood and front bumper . does have full stock interior - bench seat heater etc

Tex

This was 2 weeks ago Budnicks . A bit soft in the 60 . Shame about the James Bond cherry in the semi

Good luck Tex. Your car runs very good now for what it is so I think you will tune that 505 to 10.50's or better once you have it dailed in as you seem to know what you are doing. Ron
