I own a 78 Monaco and I am trying to purchase new caliper guide pins for it. I am unable to find them. Does anyone know if pins from a 72 Monaco or any others that might work on my car?

The caliper guide pin, or caliper housing bolt, is different between a 1972 Monaco and a 1978 Monaco, but the earlier bolt can be used if the later style rubber bushing is used.

The following image shows the difference between the bolts, with the longer shoulder for the positioner used with the earlier cars:

The following application note from Niehoff shows the difference with the bushing to be used if the longer bolt is used:

Applications that used the same short shoulder bolt as the 1978 Monaco B-body are as follows:
  • 1973 - 1978 B-body
  • 1973 - 1974 E-body
  • 1973 C-body
The common aftermarket base number for this pin is 5017, including Raybestos 5017, EIS 5017, Niehoff NH5017-2, Carlson H5017/H5017-2. Also Wagner F76077S.

Applications that used the different long shoulder bolt with the positioner are as follows:
  • Late 1969 - 1972 B-body
  • Late 1969 - 1972 C-body
  • 1970 - 1972 E-body
The common aftermarket base number for this pin is 5005, including Raybestos 5005, EIS 5005, Niehoff NH5005-2, Carlson H5005/H5005-2. Also Wagner F76078S.
