Are there enough sheetmetal and frame parts to do this like a Mustang or Camaro?

At risk of unleashing a morality debate...

I still have a VIN and title (as well as the grille, rallye gauges and slapsick/ console) to a JS Rallye 318 car that I know for sure got crushed.

I probably could never afford to do it, but just curious if I could.

You could buy one of the Dynacorn bodies for about 18K and build from there. I don't know how they get titled but the old vin and paper would not be the honest way to go IMO.

You can build one from scratch for sure if you start with a dynacorp body. Would be ALOT of cash though......

I would think the VIN on the car that got crushed can no longer be used. If you try to register it, it'll show up as a VIN that's no longer usable.....?

I dont think they track crushed vehicles. And sounds like he kept the vin tag. People use their vins all the time...but not honest

Here in Canada they track them, there are very few places left that you can scrap a car with out the vin and ownership because it's all government regulated.

That seems very plausible. A local metal recycler which does accept complete cars for scrapping requires the title to be turned in. But they also accept cars with no title, as long as you cut it up into sections and don't scrap all the sections on one visit to the scrap metal yard.
So in theory, the DMV could be assuming that a title and VIN # to a particular vehicle is "alive" whereas the corresponding car body with that VIN & title had been hacked into pieces and destroyed without their knowledge. that is where the replacement body would be "reassigned" that VIN.
I certainly wouldn't recommend that, though. I recently went through all kinds of grief getting a title changed over just because the signatures were messed up. I had to contact the guy who sold me the car years ago (lucky I was able to find him) and get an affidavit signed. The DMV is very detailed and I'm sure they would be pissed off if they thought they were getting hustled.

Blasphemous!!! the MoPar gods will strike you down!!! lol

you probably could, but why??? things like that IMHO is what sets MoPar guys apart from the lemmings...

I said WITHOUT a morality debate.

That car was scrapped in 1990. Stripped clean and crushed within a week.

Our laws just changed from (get this) scrapping without title was OK, as long as the roof was even with the tops of the fenders!

Now it's similar to what was posted above. It has to be cut into quarters.

I had to do the POA (power of attorney) title dance on my motorcycle.

The previous owner put down less miles than it actually had by 20, by transposing two digits. That was a pain, but not too horrible.

That Challenger body was horribly rusty and needed replaced anyway :)
It's just taken me 20 years to do it, and I sold the bad parts to help finance the resto :)

Hypothetically, of course.

Did I mention that the grill, slpastik and gauges are original?

Wonder if a title search would show the status?

I think it will cost you a arm and a leg. Doing from scratch.I'd find something that is a project started and the guy ran out of money or patience.
