Can you test/check ac/heater box?

What about the heater core and evaporator? Can you hook it up to pressurized air, submerge it in water, and see if there are any bubbles?

The Mighty Vac hand pump works fine to test the vacuum modules. The heater core is way past its due date. My research showed poor results with new reproduction units so I sent it out to Glenn Ray for a re core. He is now closing so find another source. Pressure checked the evaporator and then thoroughly degreased and cleaned the inside mainly to remove the old R12 oils. The 2 heater valves scared me the most. The firewall valve can be repaired later if needed but the one inside on the heater core would require a full tear out again. I think I had both rebuilt by a vendor on here. That inside valve has heater hoses and clamps that have no place in a non access area. Knowing what I do now I would investigate eliminating that valve. The way I understand the heater core it has 2 chambers, the firewall valve works off of the hotter/colder button with a manual cable and the internal valve works off of the heat button by vacuum. You would not want the valve open 100% for summer but if it was left 100% closed I wonder if 1/2 of the core is enough heat for comfort.

I bought a cheap spool of vacuum hose and connected it to a running car, through my garage window and tested the full operation of everything on my bench.
