If you let the trans drop and bend the hub on the disc when you removed the trans you will have to replace it
see if you can locate a pilot shaft to check with if you are still fighting it

Being that you are two inches away, that should be the clutch spline. As stated, turning the tail shaft while in gear should do it.

Good news guys!!! I got it back in. Just had to put it in gear and spin it with my old driveshaft, and kinda wiggle it and she slammed home. Boy was I happy!
