I have a 1966 Plymouth Belvedere , is there a way to find some history on this car like what dealership sold it originally and may past owners? I have the certacard and the original owners name . Thank You.

It is tough if you only have card. Privacy laws. If you think car has been in state google the name, and hope the person is alive. The original of my car still kicken.

If you can get them IBM card from FCA it will have the original dealer on it.

There is no Carfax-style way to run a pre-1980 VIN. The only entities that can do a VIN search are cops, insurance companies, tow companies, banks and repo people. In most states, you can run a VIN history ONLY on something that is currently in YOUR name, and then, only in your state. Things clamped down significantly after 9/11. Unless you know someone in the ownership string, you'll never get that info. And states do not retain selling dealer info on anything that old, anyway. I happen to know that my '66 Coronet 500 was sold new at Skyline Dodge in Denver on 1/22/66. It helped that I bought the car from the original owner in 1980.

Usually, but not always. They had it for my Belvedere but not my Satellite. All they had for the Satellite is the dealer code number. The window sticker for that car is also blank where the dealer's name usually is. My latest information suggests that the car was likely built as a Chrysler company car. Then eventually shipped to the dealership in WI where it was sold new.

Chrysler Historical is a good place to run your car through - assuming you have proof of ownership. Also, I've run into several people who have never had the $55. check for that service cashed. That includes me - they never cashed either of my checks. No one knows why, but no one is complaining, either.

If you do get a dealership name, try Google searching the original owner's name for that area.
