Just was going through some of my old Hemmings motor news.. This is just a few stand outs. Those are cool! I have some old Hot Rod mags from the 60's and the for sale section was full of that kind of stuff. AC 427 Cobra for a few thousand, etc.. Below one of your highlighted ads I see a 51 Delahaye for $7500.00. Well, here is one that sold not too long ago for $241K

Yes, I have a time machine for rent. It's an older model, a Chromotron 6000, but it works well. You'll have to return it two weeks before you borrow it.

Somewhere I have an old HotRod from 1977 that had an advertising for 426 Hemi short blocks (rebuilt) for $800 each.

"Someone have a time machine for rent??"

Wish i could help you out with one! Then i would help me out on some, and other things to go with them :) Cool post bud!!! :)

The prices seem very cheap today, but in 1979, a $6,250.00 for a Hemi Road Runner was a lot of money and $10,000.00 for a Hemi Superbird might as well have been a million dollars.

Back then, my gross pay was about $175.00 per week.

very cool. the interweb has had a phenomenal impact on the way we buy and sell these days

That's funny, I bought my GTX in '79 the year I graduated from high school for $1000 in very good condition with zero rust anywhere, and it seemed a bit high. I almost didn't buy it because I had my eye on a "70 Chevelle SS 454 convertible that was mint for $1500.

Man I'd need a car hauler, to bring back all them cars,
IIRC that was allot of money in 1979, for me anyway,
a 69 Daytona for $8500 even back then that was a steal,
I think I was making something like $6.15 per/hr working for PG&E
& going to school, thought I had the world by the tail...LOL...

I remember a friend selling his 68 Hemi Dart racecar clone about that time for $5500 1977ish,
I thought the guy who bought it was rich or something, I really wanted it, that would have been 6 months wages...
how times have changed

That brings back great memories. I bought a 68 rt charger in 1982 for 1500 that was nice driver 440 4 speed car

I saw a blue 12,*** mile 70 Hemi RR in 1982 at the original owners house and it looked new. I had just bought another 70 RR roller for $100 and the seller took me and my Dad by his friends house. He wanted $12K for the 70 Hemi car.

Crazy money for a 17 Y.O. Kid making $4.35 an hour .. but I've never forgot that car and several others I couldn't afford, didn't have enough money at the time, didn't have the foresight, or just had too many cars and no room at the time to buy like most of us.
