Carl's JR $31.22

Anyone remember Jolly Burgers, we had one in Concord Ca.
would have been in the later 60's early 70's
$1.00 bag of Burgers, 10 reg. burgers, onion pickle tomatoe
or individually $0.15 a reg. burger, $0.20 cents for a Cheeseburger (same veg's)
$1.50 for a bag of Cheeseburgers
$1.00 for a bag of fries, 10 orders of reg. fries
$0.10 cents for reg. fries or spicey fries for $0.15 cents
$1.50 for bag of spicy fries, I liked the spicy fries
Real milkshakes, strawberry cherry or chocolate
real ice-cream milkshakes, hand-blended, for $0.25
IIRC, it was the most expensive thing on the menu

they sort of were like Whitecastle or In & Out burgers, like 3"-ish in size
they were more like slidders than the way overpriced "burgers" are today
not big, but good, fresh, cooked as you ordered them,
you need at least 2 burgers
when I was in HS, after football practice, I could eat a whole bag of cheeseburgers
real local ranches supplied;
hamburger, store-baked buns, locally farmed/sourced veggies/dairy
IIRC that was their deal, all about the locally supplied menu...
Even had a drive-thru IIRC... down off Concord Ave. (?)

Big Court Jester's head/hat on the sign...

My parent's mom/stepdad would take us (me & my 3 blood sisters) there
once a week or so
&/or we'd go there before we'd go to Concord/Salono Drive-In Theater,
way better than drive-in theater food, Popcorn or Hotdogs
we'd go 1 a week or so...
Usually Friday nights...

I took my wife to the Houston Hospital for some surgery last week, they have a Satbucks right there and I had my first Starbucks coffee, I was dessperate. The PLAIN little one was about $4. In a paper cup. I demanded to have it in a travel mug. Security escorted me out the building! Just another life experience????

One thing I've noticed is takeout pizza prices haven't changed much. I can still get a nice thick crust Hawaiian pizza for about $15 (CDN) which is plenty for me and my wife, with leftovers for the next day.

I can believe it.
Circa 1960's...10 McDonalds burgers
for a dollar. Fries were a nickle.
But there were sure a lot of cool
hot rods in the parking lot, with
hotties delivering your order
to your car window. Usually on
roller skates. Buddy Holly/Roy
Orbison on the AM.
I remember in the mid 60's Jack in the Crack had 3 cheese burgers (small but not too small) with their 'secrete sauce' for 99 cents but don't recall SmackDonalds having 10 for a buck.....and the only McDonalds around here in the mid 60's was downtown Houston when you could go down there without getting shot or mugged.

Inflation is a Rollin' !!!
...and now apparently creeping into our neighbor's economies!

Well, the important thing is that everyone's feelings are safe:p:p:poke:

The Mickey's I remember (being
5 years old) was in Shelbyville,
Indiana. The place just opened
which may have been why the burgers
we're so cheap. But the hotrods and
the gals on roller skates were there.
This must have been the the spark
that started the fire.
