Asking because the 440 Magnum I had gotten my hands on, was supposed to be untouched. It had already been pulled, sitting on the floor, though from block #s, came out of a 69 Coronet R/T.
Motor sure appeared stock, cleaned-up .020 in the bores.

Ma use those cast pulleys on stock motors? Steel crank, with the one pulley hole off, has a one groove steel pulley, then the one groove cast. Only sporting the water pump, alt., and PS.

Just want to know, one way, or the other, what's stock for the set-up?

I have a similar post asking something similar and never got any info, is the crank cast or steel? In the 70's and later 440's I seen some crazy stuff come out of untouched motors, like virgin cranks ground -10 stock, stock motors already bored +.020, 6 pack pistons, rods, crank, balancers on 4bbl motors, and more...

What is the code on the block, I think E was cast crank, I had one with an S that was a 4bbl 330hp car, BUT had a 6 pack rotating assembly, motor marked HP2 (I think the 2 is just night shift), it was a 70 with 906 heads, the hd valve springs, but in a 4bbl car with the correct vin number and matching motor!!! Motor had never been pulled from the car, was second owner related to the first owner, not a v code car, but had a v code short block. We had the fender tag but no build sheet, and to my knowledge you could not order the car that way.. The motor needed 2 sleeves (rears of course), and we decided to put the engine back together with OUT the 6 pack rotating assembly since we had no PROOF it was supposed to be that way, BUT I AM CONFIDENT it came that way from ma mopar, never heard of one like that again...

I am going to say the steel pulley is right..

When the factory had extra parts laying around or refurb parts they used them all the time. many motors that called for Forged cranks had cast and also parts that where cut would be reused or reworked. done all the time. End of model years or4 left over parts where mixed. No big deal all these companies mixed parts all the time.

I doubt that is factory. My car had 3rd party "knee knocker" A/C added and THAT had an "add on" cast pulley.

Some of the REAL heavy trucks might, AKA 2 T etc or class A motorhomes

Thanks for the replies!
Heck...I just screwed up, by not taking a pic of the motor, before I busted it down. Live and learn, huh? From the factory, this motor had a -.010 steel crank, otherwise all the good parts building up a so-called Magnum. Can't remember (getting old!), but believe the thing was complete, minus the dizzy, and included alt/PS. Those pulleys were all on board.

Might have to change a bracket, to get things lined up. I'll do a bit more head-bangin'!

Yeah - cast pulleys were usually either very early engines (my 273s have them) or the add-on aftermarket (or dealership installed) AC kits.

Thanks! No real way to tell at this stage of the game. Only know what was on the motor, when I picked it.

Plan to dig up the right two groove steel pulley, and go from there. Of course, this crank has the offset hole.
