cast number questions

Got my motor for the 73 build a 1968 383 from what the guy said... motor cast number is 2468130 which Internet search says 69-71 383
Now the head cast number is 2951250 Internet search says 1968 440. Is this right or is it just a 1968 383

That is correct, them heads I do beleive are one year only and that being 68 non HP engines but that being said they are nothing special either. I have the same heads on my 383 from a 68 newport and were on a second 383 from another same year newport parts car.

I do not know though if they were actually on 440's in 68 too.

Ok more research via the great internet....
exhaust manifold casting are
RT 2532464 comes back same for 68' 383/440....
LT (on the motor) is 2463107 comes back 68' 383/440
Figured it out they must be the same... my question is why would they use the same part number from a 383 2brl motor on a 440 motor??
