Caution: NOS Timing Chains With Cracked Side Plates

I recently purchased two NOS Direct-Connection Roller Timing Chain and Gear Sets and close careful inspection under magnification shows several cracked sideplates at several places around the chains on both inner and outer sideplates extending from the outside edge to the center pins. Pictures coming.

Direct connection is not NOS. Ot low bid aftermarket. Amd we/ you don’t Know what it’s been through since the mid 80’s at least.

so yes always inspect your new parts.
 
Wow! Good find. And I can see 'USA' on the links, so we cannot blame the Chinese this time....

Good catch Rusty. That chain would have likely had your car "Directly Connected" to the tow truck!
