I've been searching for a rattling sound for some time now. I found this piece in the back of the fuel door hinge. The car is a 67 Coronet R/T, does anyone know what this is and where it belongs? Thanks in advance for your help.

I believe that is the spring for the fuel door! Is your door loose?

It doesn't feel loose but now that I think about it I remember it did open into what felt like a detent. I can remember it felt different before. Now to figure out how to put it back. Thanks for the help, I've always had good luck with whats this questions here. This is a great bunch of guys always ready to help. Thanks FBBO!

Looks like similar to the shield for the bendix on my starter on my 318.

Does anyone have a picture of how this fuel door spring goes? On the door arm or on the housing? Again it's a 67 Coronet, Thanks!

I'm feeling really sick today but I'll get you a picture tomorrow. It is in fact the hinge spring for your fuel door. Nice find on the rattle!

fuel door

I found a fuel door at a local junk yard yesterday when I was looking for a pwr steering pulley, the spring should be installed as shown. Looks like I need to remove the door to install the spring.
