Prior to replacing parts and pulling the transmission, would like some advice on what it could possibly be. It just started acting up a few days ago, prior to pulling out the center chunk and installing a locker.
Installed a ZOOM Performance Clutch less than 500 miles ago. No hard driving, just breaking in the new longblock. Clutch broke in unlike any other clutch's we used, and burned at nearly every redlight when mildly taking off (proper installation.) Stopped smoking after a hundred or so miles. Will never buy a Zoom clutch again, and am already looking at a Centerforce replacement.
But Here is the issue-
Neutral, clutch engaged (or standard position), no noise at any RPM.
Neutral (or any range of gears) when clutch is disengaged (from 2" to floor board) at any range of motion, grinding noise:angry1:. Also gets noisier as RPMs increase. Car is hard to shift into gears when clutch is disengaged and at idle.
What could be the issue;
Throwout bearing?
Input shaft bearing?
Pilot Bearing?
