I was working on the car today changing the valve covers and realized the PO did not cut the ignition wires to length, I think he just put the ends on and installed them *g*.
So I want to relocate the coil to a different spot, trying to clean up the engine bay a little, right now it is at the back beside the distributer.
Where are some good spots?
Thanks

it would be a TREMENDOUS help knowing what kind of car, the year of the car....and the engine... just an observation!

I would leave it in its stock location and just redo the wiring. If it's a 340 I remember them being mounted to the intake on the passenger side of the engine next to the distributor.

73 340 Charger, it is in it's stock location but have seen a few guys who have it mounted in different spots...fire wall ...inner fenders etc etc.

Good question. Is there a maximum length that the coil wire can be before any drop-off? As far as location, I would put mine out of the way, and away from heat. Heat is an enemy of coils.

Thanks Scott for the question I didn't think of drop off.....I have an extra wire which would let me get it away from heat and off the engine which is why I was asking....I thought they guys would love to show their engine bays again LOL

I wouldn't worry too much about drop off.

Al, If it,s an oil filled coil it should be mounted vertical for proper cooling even though most of us don,t myself included.

Thanks, I did that Google thing but came up empty LOL I was thinking about that spot *G*
I heard that before Rick..but never paid any attention to it either LOL.
After cutting my wires to the proper length it looks much cleaner under the hood, which is why I was thinking about moving the coil, maybe I will look for one that isn't so beat up LOL
