I had the most bizarre interaction with my car yesterday.

Started fine, I was driving around and at some point I could feel it like a lack of petrol... But carried on. When I stopped accelerating, the car stalled.
Turn the key, car back on, I continued my journey.
That happened few times more, but once it didn't start straight away. I turned the electric fuel pump on, it started, carry on... I was blaming fuel somehow.
When I arrived at the place I was going to, when I put it on reverse, the car started to struggle A LOT. Shaking, etc, I had to keep the pedal down to keep going but the car was literally jumping. Out of reverse, it was "fine".

Went for a walk, it stalled again still in the car park. I adjusted the carb and turn the screw for a higher RPM.
It worked... Until I got home, and put it on reverse, everything happened again, and it would start anymore.

Well... After a few minutes it started... I managed to put the car in the garage...

While I was having a look around, with the car on, I touched something and It died.

Couldn't understand why but then I realised the ring terminal to coil earth was a bit loose. As soon as I touched it, it snapped.

I replaced the ring, car started as normal, but I had no chance to take it out today and test it.

But I believe the connection was really weak and it was causing the "misfire", etc?

Car has the pertronix, so coil negative goes straight to distributor.

I’ve had a coil go out like that. When it got hot, it wouldn’t fire. Cooled off, it would fire up again. Check for a bad connection first. Also….I had a Chrysler ignition box do that exact same thing too. When I replaced that box, it looked kind of “melted” on the back
