For starters get a caliper on some lobes.
Minus base circle from lobe height, X by 1.5.
Do a few good looking ones.

If his lifters are organized to the respective cam lobes, all he need do is to make sure the lifter plungers move. Disassembling the lifters and cleaning the an easy enough task to perform. If the parts display rust, they would be thrown away. Otherwise there should be zero problems on a cam that was previously run without problems to be used again.

Ok got ahold of comp cams, part # 21-242-4
@50 244 501 lift 110 deg lobe separation. A little big for low compression engine.

I found a part # on my pistons and after 2 hrs on the phone with speed pro they come back as a trw part manufactured in 1969. Forged 60 over 9.42 to1 when using a 78cc head.

If that cam is in good shape, I would use it. I've had a Comp 292 since the 80s. Buncha miles on it. Hasn't gone flat yet. In a .030 over, 8.5 (TRW 2266) 440, 906 heads , stock rockers, Torker, 750 dp, 10 inch GER converter and 3.23s . 68 Sat street car with 28x9 et drags. Went best of 12.35 at 107. And if it matters to you, that cam sounds real good in a 440.

if it good .. use it. trusting a new cam from anyone is tricky sence the plandemic
