Hi all, submitted cam form to Comp this is what they sent back. Thoughts please The car will not be driven daily. Car shows, cruise-ins, weekend warrior, some strip time. What are your thoughts on their choice? Thanks

I have a similar comp cam in my 383. It runs like a bat out of hell. I also only drive my to car shows and very little around town,.....and an occasional challenge from a 5.0 Mustang. ZAP !

I’m no cam specialist or engine builder but looks like a decent cam for you, you’re iron heads are going to hold you back.

So the stock iron heads will handle .525 lift ok ?

The flow will become the bottleneck. You will need to watch max lift will be close to the valve seals, and may need the guides clearanced a little. Sounds like a fun cam.... I cant read your paperwork well.... what springs did they recommend?? HTH, Lefty71

If you can get a die grinder on those heads and do some pocket porting and clean up will help tons more then you can think. Do it! Good Luck

If you use that cam or any of their XE series, it’s gonna sound like a sewing machine on steroids!

Instead of the engine running quiet at idle, it’ll sound like a sewing machine. It’s due to the fast ramp rate of the XE series cams. Takes a bit to get used to hearing it, but when you get on it, it’s all sweet music!

Will it still have that lumpy sound at idle with a added whine

There is no “whine” to that cam. And yes it’ll have some lope to the idle. Google that cam and you’ll get some you tube videos of the sound.
