Compressor just took a dump

I have a 1982 model Quincy........ replaced the electric motor in 2007......... other than that, never an issue...... I leave the drain cracked a little..... It's contained in it's own little block building....... I blow a heater on it when it's cold to get the oil moving......... best tool I ever bought

Just bought a new Schulz air compressor Model 7580vv30x It's a 7.5 hp two stage V puts out 30 cfm. It will run the DA at 100lbs and never get below 100. It will run the blast cabinet, and the bucket blaster with plenty of air left over. Found it on Ebay $1875.00 free freight. Schulz makes the parts for alot of the name brands in the USA.

I have nothing but good to say about my Bel-Aire that was made in the 1980s and acquired in 2005-ish.

It is just barely starting to leak a little oil past the rings after what I was told was heavy body shop use in its past life and over 10 years with me including sand blasting at 100% duty cycle.

Mine was built in 1964 and was rebuilt about 20 years ago.

I do the PM on it, drain tank, change oil, clean filter. It is a IR 60 gallon 5 HP single stage, so only about 130 psi. I bought it around 1985. Lucky not much humidity here in Colorado, so normally not too much water in the tank. I did hydrostatic pressure testing on gas cylinders at Gasses & Arc as a summer job when I was in school, so I am aware if the safety issue.

This thread caught my eye. Working in a small fab shop in the eighties I was sometimes looked to for equipment issues.
One day I was asked why our two big air compressors were constantly cycling. (two 240 gal units).
They were installed professionally but lacked a piped automatic drain system. I pulled a plug and quickly put it back in because the water flow would make a big mess.
These two tanks were almost full of water. We had to shut down production machines for a day to drain these tanks. I added an automatic drain to them like recommended by the manufacturer.

Wow. Any shop I ever worked in , the lowest guy on the pole had an assignment to open the drain cocks last thing before closing.
