Connecting rod torque

Want to plastiguage my rods and mains and need to know what to torque the rods to. I read 45 standard and 55 for heavy duty. It’s a 383, 1969 HP block crank and rods. Are these heavy duty or regular bolts and nuts?

You need to follow the bolt manufacturers specs to a T. If the bolts are original (yikes), then I'd say 45 is the right answer, not 55.

Thanks, not fresh, I’ve done the mains and they look nice! All at .002 and no unusual wear or excessive wear.
I’ll use 45 on the rods tomorrow

I’m not rebuilding or I would, just checking, deglazing and re-ringing it. Don’t you have to resize the rods or change the rod bolts only when rebuilding/resizing?

It’s a street application 383, and will seldom see 5000 rpm let alone 5500+. Stock used stuff should be good enough for that?

55 is for larger 7/16 rod bolts. 3/8 gets 45.
