Console trim ?

Gotta ask...

64 Sport Fury, auto console shift. When I got the car, console (or, what was left of it) was in the trunk. So, needed a complete redo. Question is, on the center trim pieces, that go front to back over the top. Is there supposed to be a trim piece up front?
Asking because, when I stripped the console body down, at the front top surface is two recessed bosses, and stud holes. Doing the 2+2 thing, thinking 'something' goes there.

Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks!

The only pieces of the trim are the cast frame that is chromed, and the shifter plate1 On the plate is a chrome ring that has the block off plastic dial or a tach! The bosses you are talking about is for mounting the tach sending unit!
