Just replaced themostat and installed flexible ridged lower radiator hose to solve cooling issue and it works great idling in the drive way with the cap off. It comes up to temp and the themostat opens and everything is fine.

I go for a short drive with the cap on and everything is great until I come back home and idle in the driveway. Then the temp slowly goes up?

Let the car cool a couple hours and pull the cap and check the fluid and it is above the fins about 1 1/2 from the top?

What are you using for coolant??Straight anti-freeze is a no-no.Was it an easy drive or did you exercise the right foot. After the drive and back home, the temp rises and should start to cool down after idleing for a little while.

Car was at cool good temp when I got home. Put car in park and slowly the temp raised. When I replaced the hose and thermostat I put in new premixed 50/50.

I am going to take a drive tonight and when I get home pop the hood and see if that keeps the temp down. If it does I may need a shroud.

May need radiator shroud for my 22" radiator? May be able to use the plastic shoud that is $150 on e-bag?

What is the temp range? Engines can sometimes run 10-15 deg above the T stat rating.

Only have stock dash gage. No aftermarket gage. Guess I should get one?

You would be amazed at the diff that a shroud will make. Not sure what car you have but for my roadrunner they range from 99 on e-bay to 150 from year one. even saw a 22 on ebay cheep a week ago. I would defiantly get a gage they even make a cap with a gage built in if you don't want one in the interior then you could look at the gage and where the needle is on the dash and have a good idea where your at at all times.
