anyone have a decent link to a good search engine for craigslist etc

Try " claz.org " It takes you to a Countrywide search of what you may be looking for...

must be a regional thing ,when I Google it takes me to a site where it asks me what state I want to look in not a national search. much like the link you provided :poke:

Hmm,
Perhaps your "server"
If I type in Google for Craigslist I get the most recent site I looked at, so my Computer is holding on to cookies....
But yes, I do now understand,
I sometimes simply go:
1. Open the site
2. At right side scroll over to the far right and under the "English language menu" CLICK : nearby cl
3. You will be "toggling" between your LOCAL cities and US cities, US States and Canada and World Wide

I sometimes simply jump in the Local area to other States...
By going to other cites in surrounding States.

x2 on searchtempest

X3 search tempest, I don't like the. Re layout much. But it will be you new obsession! Lol

I used to use search tempest to search all of Craigslist, but something changed a couple months ago and I don't find it as accurate or as easy to use as it used to be.
I now start with my local Craigslist , and the "for sale" section, and then I select "all" for sale rather than selecting a particular category like "cars and trucks". By selecting "all", the local results include cars as well as parts.

Then for my search I copy and paste the following:

(1963|1964|1965|1966|1967|1968|1969|1970|1971|1972|1973) (dodge|plymouth|chrysler|imperial)

That way with one click, I can search that particular city's Craigslist for all the Dodge Chrysler Plymouth and Imperial cars and parts for all those model years.
The cool thing is that I then leave the search alone, and change the city (theres always several nearby cities to choose from). That way I can go city by city throughout a region and pull up all those cars and parts for each city without changing the search. Since a city's Craigslist search also includes listings on nearby Craigslists, I can pretty much search for all those cars and parts over about half the country in a single evening by jumping from one major city to another while leaving the described search alone the entire time.

I have used SearchTempest in the past, but when I place craigslist side-by-side with Tempest they miss a lot of ads.
I do what super-ski_bee does. The main thing is how to account for misspellings. The year is a must, but then you get a load of dealer chevys and fords. Say for Super Bee, I put in "Superbee", "Super Bee", "Coronet", "Cornet", "Mopar" etc. Its a PITA if you're looking for something specific, but if you hit the big cities you'll get the surroundings towns too.

That's a Charger with a Plymouth front clip.

Bet the title and VIN are dirty as hell.

I actually like the new searchtempest layout.

I search 250 mile radius for "1969", and then when the page loads, I right click the first local results and "open in new tab", then enter "1968" or "1970" and let the first tab search while I browse the first results in the second tab.

S U P E R easy.

Search Tempest don't show all the adds in a given area. I'll try other suggestions listed here.

Hi,

Founder of SearchTempest here. This came up in my Google Alerts, so I just wanted to stop in in case I could help, or answer any questions.

Thanks to those of you who recommended the site - glad you like it! There were some changes made a few months back, in response to a change at Google, which was our primary source for results. Basically there are now two ways to use the site. The standard way is with what we call "Direct Results". Basically what it does is link you straight to craigslist results pages, but it automates the process of going to each separate area, checking a bunch of boxes, typing in your keywords (or pasting them) over and over, etc. You just enter the search once on SearchTempest, put in your zip and how far you want to search, and we automatically generate links to craiglist results pages covering your entire search area. Each one covers multiple cities, so you can cover a whole state in only one or two links, and the whole country in about twenty. (There's also an 'open all' button to save time.) And unlike other sites that are still powered by Google, it doesn't miss anything, because it literally links you straight to craigslist.

Now, we do have an alternate mode, which we call "Single List Results". Instead of linking out to craigslist results pages, this still does rely on Google. Because of that, it will still miss stuff. (Those of you who mentioned missing results - maybe you were using this option?) We do have warnings on the site to mention that results can be missed if using Single List, but they might be missed. (Oh, and we agree that our layout needs an update - we're working hard on it!)

Anyway, hopefully that explains everything. I strongly recommend if you're going to use searchtempest.com to use the Direct Results view, unless you're just looking for a quick overview of what's out there. I'll subscribe to this thread in case anyone has questions for me. (Although one of us will also be happy to answer any emails you send through our contact page: http://www.searchtempest.com/contact.)

Cheers,
Nathan
