Craigslist....the what was he thinking...and HEY somebody buy it

I'm with Patrick on that. . A nice car is a piece of history, sedan or no. Junking it shows no respect. While driving it the car looks the same from the drivers seat. On a separate Opinion, with all due respect to the 70' Coronet lovers. this car was Butt ugly back then, and it is now. Generally, and I was there then, Guys thought they sucked, and the Road runner was far more attractive. production in 1970 for all Coronets dropped 50%. They are worth money today because there are so few left. This sedan is no uglier than the two door version of it. Stationed at minot AFB in 71' a friend had a six pack 70', and it was the laughing stock of the parking lot. Even the diehard mopar guys hated the looks of it .(Vietnam vets were merciless in their critique) I say leave the sedan in peace, it deserves it for surviving all these years, and Guys trying to junk it. The 69' Coronet/Superbee was and is the best looking Coronet of the day,and Chrysler sold twice as many. And the economy was in good shape, so it wasn't for lack of an ability to Purchase.
Just my take, being an old guy.

Thank you for making my point. So its okay for folks to say the 70 wasnt cool or was butt ugly but not okay for me to see the 70 4 DOOR as just a car and only good for parts?

I guess if we all had a 68 or 69 Charger or a 68 or 69 Roadrunner then we could all be perfect.

I have a bet.... I'll buy both cars make the swap and create a beautiful 70 Coronet with a 440 in it. Now i wont clone it because I believe clones are the JOKE on classic car guys of today ("badges we dont need no stink'n badges) and I'll get all kinds of people loving it if I dont mention HOW I did it??????

Or a better bet....I 'll buy it put the fuel pump on it and you have to take it to car shows and drive it and park your car for 2 years. Hey its a FREE car and since its so great that should be a good deal for any of you? yeah..... I DIDNT think so!

that might turn out to be an expensive bet, seeing as i know multiple people who would gladly take that car for free and drive the wheels off it...
and it wouldnt even occur to them to use that car as parts...way too nice...

DEAL!! Ill even drive it to work! seeing as the GTX needs some work done, ill park her for two years...

so when can I expect delivery?? :evil5:

LOL.... the bet was for somebody who owns a TOP OF THE LINE Mopar claiming that 4 door is all the shidts and giggles of the car world. I've been in the market for YEARS and NEVER saw a 4door hold a candle to a 2 door. SO if you guys are saying you too would go to all the car shows I assign you to and profess this 4 door as the end all be all...YOU'RE a liar. I've NEVER had a Roadrunner, GTX, Superbee etc, owner profess a 4 door as equivalent, even the 440 guys dont respect the 383 guys and the 383 guys dont respect the 318 guys. Not only does that car NOT possess the features of a 2 door it is NOT a big block car. Case in point...my car only has a 318...guess what my car is a 3rd class citizen, its not a GTX, Roadrunner or a Charger AND it only has a 318....... at this very site.

Yes the above mentioned 4 door appears to be spot on TOPS, I agree.... but you're liars if you claim it to be "as good" as a premium car. OH and for fun you have to sign a contract you will pay me double the price if at any time you claim or acknowledge your own vehicle or anything showing your affection for the true classic 2 DOORS!!!! LMAO!!! seriously!

And of course I'm also kidding about buying it. I wont buy it and strip it....it was a simple comment of how many hard to find GREAT PARTS on it that could make a 2 door near perfect.

Funny how people take a position on a perceived theory.

and yet the prices rise and fall daily on perceived theory of Value.
who knew!!

even the 440 guys dont respect the 383 guys and the 383 guys dont respect the 318 guys.

o wow...can we not label the mopar guys?
let the fords n chevy guys do that mess.......
most Real mopar guys love the cars,
and wont hate them just because its not a hemi car...
ffs...

This thread has gone pretty sideways, lol
As for "respect" if what someone drives effects the respect you have for them you need to get a life and grow up.

I have many hobbies and "nice" stuff is like cream, it rises to the top. In the 1911 hobby, the wilsons, baers, browns, ect are saught after, cost more, and get a lot of attention at the range. There is a reason for it, they perform, they are attractive, and people like nice things.

You put a special forces ed brown on a table next to a glock 17 and the guys that appreciate firearms are going to take the 1911 over the glock, the gangsta movie buffs are going to lean towards the glock and probably at some point in their lives find themselves in their bathroom in front of a mirror holding it sideways, lol...

NOW, in 30 years the Glock is going to be worth about $3.50 while the 1911 will be worth much more than it cost new... Time has proven, time and time again, that nice things stand the test of time.
Now not everyone has the same tastes, which is great for them people that don't have similar tastes as the majority, because where I like 2 door v-code or hemi cars and have to spend $80K to get what I like, you guys that LOVE 4 door slant 6 cars can get something nice for $1500... To me that is a plus, don't complain that some douche bags look down on them, embrace it because if everyone loved them they would be much more money.

I am not a fan of 4 door cars for a pretty simple reason, I LIKE MUSCLE CARS, 2 doors are sporty and sexy where to me a 4 door is for my grandmother to pick up her friends for her weekly game of bridge, because its easy to get in and out of. They have their place, I love a nice new big body benz or bmw, but will they be worth more then that cost new in 40 years? Probably not because no one is going to be collecting them. Them cars were made to be appreciated as new and then never again lol...

NOW lastly for the 7' coronet being ugly???? Nah, its my favorite, now the wing cars are ugly as sin to me, and the road runners and chargers are just too alike through all the muscle years. I see way too many of them.. I think the 70 coronet is the best looking b-body, has something different to it but not too far off that it gets ruined. It makes an awesome looking convertible, the R/T and Super Bees have a lot of soul, and as prostree, pro touring, retro or rat rods, they take all of them changes very well..

TO ME the 1970 Coronet R/T convertible is the best classic car I have ever seen, second would be the 70' chevelle SS, third would be the 67 corvette... But that is what makes it fun, we all like what we like, who cares..

Would have no problem using it for a daily driver but would rather it be a 2dr coupe though. I'm also with a few others here about the car being not that appealing. Even though they have grown on me over the years, I still think the 70 B body Dodge wasn't nearly as nice looking as the Plymouth line. If the car is as nice on the inside as it is on the outside and runs good....I'd go as high as 3k for it. It would be worth that much just to have as a daily driver. Just looked at a really solid 67 Belvedere modoor that needed much more work than this one for 2k and would have paid 2500 or better had it looked more like this one.....

Us older people have some perspectives that younger people don't
We also associate certain thing with certain cars, like movies.
Gives them the panache factor that younger people don't have.
Then other cars are winners right off the bat.

Guess what?
Some cars that I considered ugly when they came out sort of age well.
They grow on you.
Why is that?

Not pointing any fingers.

LOL .....maybe this thread is due for a NAME CHANGE!!! Well said Seventy.

So on the new subject of my interest in those beautiful parts :icon_eek: if a vote was out for me to be hung for dismantling the 4 door because I would be destroying a nice survivor......somebody explain why it was okay for me to dismantle a perfect 68 Satellite Sport and put a 440 in it????? Same thing still distorting an original car!!! Why is that ACCEPTABLE?

.... my car is the same body style as the GTX... but its not a GTX! It wont be CLONED into a GTX either. I'd rather use a car that has lost its original engine to make a hot rod NOT mess up the originality of the "She Beast". I wanted to at first...but I've changed my mind. I'm okay with that.

We are all different as stated with guns, airplanes, yard tools, houses, favorite sports team or players, girlfriends, wives (well maybe not) and ANY other subject guys are guys. Its a competition! I bought my wife a 22...the gun guys gave me crap for buying it. "All that's gonna do is make somebody mad.....she needs a 357 or AR"..or what EVER. Fact is she's a beginner and that .22 is something she is comfortable shooting. This is a what ever I have is more powerful, bigger, cost less, gotta better deal, etc...... than YOURS world!

its like the bumper stickers "my kid is an honor student in blah blah blah school"

I want to make a bumper sticker that says "my kid is an average C student in blah blah blah school" LOL!!! (fact is she is an honor student and NEVER studies so see she is better than YOUR kid LOL)

Since I've pissed off some 4 door guys....I just dont value a 4 door like you dont value my 318 car!!!!!!! Now lets sing

Kum ba ya.......

lol, them bumper stickers are stupid, we were at a football fundraiser and I bought some bumper stickers, my son asked me why I never put the bumper stickers on my car, I clip them to my tool box, and I said "because you suck and its embarrassing" lol, he knew I was kidding but other parents that were there got all offended, lol... I don't put bumper stickers on because they ruin your car...
On the other hand my kids aren't honor roll students, they are more like the "I'm here, I won't disrupt the class, I will do 30% above the minimum, and hope its enough to pass the finals". I am not sure why, but they do not give school 100%, motor cross, football, and work gets 100%, but school gets just average effort, in some cases just enough, I kind of got used to it now, "MY KIDS STRUGGLE THROUGH ALGEBRA BUT GET A's IN GYM" should be my bumper sticker or "MY 16 year old bench presses 305#s" lol OR the one my wife will hate "My teenager dates 35 year olds", that one is coming, my 16 year old is infatuated with older women...

people want cars for different reasons, And a lot of truth in what you are saying.

I am in the "under 30" group, and one night I was watching "old" TV shows on TVLand. A re-run of the brady bunch was on, I saw a 69 Satellite wagon and made up my mind that I cant live without one.

I had a 68 coronet wagon land on my lap..............I am restoring it and I have a 2 door coronet parts car and it has donated a lot of dash and front end pieces to the wagon.

I found that "older" people are the ones who asked if I am going to part out the wagon when I first brought it home, Yet the people my age said "COOL".

I am already thousands of dollars into it and I don't care if a wagon is not worth much because it will be a dream come true to finally drive it because I have wanted one for a few years now and its being restored to be exactly the car I want.

People are strange characters and there are a lot of reasons people do what they do. :)

In 2012 when I found my more door it at least ran. Did it run well no I couln't find a 2 door Mopar for what I paid for my car. All the stuff I could afford had severe rust holes and you could drive a truck through the floors. I've learned alot and it is my Therapy. Would I drive that car Hell yes I would. I wish I had spare cash to get it. My favorite are old wagons.

How about this crazy seller?! $100,000!!!

"383 engine with 4 speed manual shift has about 750HP with 11 to 1 compression. Saw on Barret Jackson one go for 150k, but with a little more investment you can sell it once done for a profit. I ran out of money and I have invested in it 110k"

"price OBO, but wont move much I know how much these cars go for"

"gauges don't work"

Funny how people take a position on a perceived theory.

So, where did ANY of us claim that a four-door is superior or whatever to a two-door. What we have mentioned is that since so few four-doors are out there in ANY shape, a slick four WILL attract as much attention as the seven Hemi or 440+6 cars at any given show...the '66 four-door HEMI Coronets are a prime example. Even a slick 318 car will draw attention. If your world is solely 440 or HEMI cars, you have a LOT more money than I do and so, then this may not apply to you.

And, yes, the '70 Coronet is a butt-ugly car from the front! Looks like a pair of '58 Edsel grilles laid on their sides. Your opinion may vary. But I'd still drive that ugly b!tch, just to keep my butt OUT of a new car!

I'm with you on this. My first new car was a 69 superbee. The next year change was a big change.
At the time their were few that I knew that liked the change.
This may not be much different then the complainers of the new charger being called a charger. It is a different car.
IMO the 68 and 69 coronets are a well done style that justifies the term classic. Just as the 68 and 69 chargers are.
So dodge decided to give us something new. They did.

When I was younger, and went to car shows, hot rod shows in particular, you would pretty much only see 2 door cars and trucks. But, I have seen a lot more four door cars and trucks over the last decade or so. Some people only see value or worth in their per-disposed ideas of what should survive. Some find value in antiques regardless of numbers matching status or number of doors. That's what great about the hobby.

Just from a valuation standpoint, I would expect to see a lot more 4 to 2 door conversions moving forward. It's certainly no more difficult than replacing frames pieces and panels virtually everywhere on some of the rusted out two door cars that are being sold now. A lot of the stuff I see being saved on this board would have been scrapped twenty years ago without a second thought. Hobbyist are much more adventurous in their restorations now.

pretty much all the cars I saw this weekend at one major show the www.hcias.com and then two smaller shows of nearly 200 cars... I would say maybe 10 were four door cars. One I stood near for over an hour and people walked right past it. It was a 4 door Impala 454 4spd car owned by a girl and she had it looking very nice.

So my observation is simply mine and what I personally witness stands. people dont pay as much attention as two door styles of the same model. I dont make them walk past them i just witness the events.

but those SAME people loved the 64 VW Bus!!!

That 4-dr would have been the home for a pro-charged gen II hemi, if I had it. Modern stuff, with white-walls and wheel covers.
