Sister Jude used to have one of those when I was in grade school.
She would get us to line up in the school yard a few minutes before the bell would ring, quite effective.
50 years ago!

Our nun had a bell. When the main timer bell buzzed automatically at the end of lunch time, all the students were trained to "freeze" in place. Then at the sound of the hand-held bell, we could move over and form in a single-file line (by grade level) to be led back into the classrooms.
