Yesterday I finally took the old man for a ride in the 68 with the new 500" stroker in it. It's making every bit of 550hp easily, and runs real healthy with the carb tuned now and dialed in. I also went through the 4 speed gear box and freshened that up so the drive train is really nice and tight now. He was cruising up through town and was saying man this trans shifts firm and nice...an man this car drives so nice for how much big steam it makes. I was laughing and agreed and he turned onto our road which is a back road. He was getting used to it so he was gettin into the go pedal a bit more and when he was in second doin about 25mph he tipped into it and it started breaking the tires lose. He looked over at me and said Jesus this thing will burn em off even rolling at 30mph or so?!? I laughed and said oh yea that's the best part. Now if you get into its shorts, it'll blow the tires off up until 40mph or so. It was good to see him get behind the wheel and enjoy it because he has never had the opportunity to own the bigger money Mopars being the sole provider and supporting me and my sis and my mom growing up when my mom stayed home. He has always had a 66 Charger 4 speed since I was born, but never had the bigger money 68-70 stuff. It feels good to let him tool around in the car and let him cruise it now that I have a couple of em. I thoroughly enjoyed his reaction to the tires coming unglued at 30mph though. That was the best. Just a good day overall letting the old man take a ride. That's what it is all about right? I'm 32 and he's 56, so it's cool to see it and those with young sons will one day be in the same position my dad is in. Here's the car done.
