Off of the headlight swith which wire controls the dash light dimmer.... Im finishing up all the aftermarket guages before startup. And the diagrams i have are no help, they dont state what each wire does. Thanks
Luke

The dash dimmer is the only circuit where the fuse for the dash lamps is downstream from the dimmer, yet the dimmer is supplied power internally from the tail lamp circuit

You have two power sources going TO the lamp switch

no12 BLACK is UNfused power for the headlights ONLY which comes from the "in harness splice" Headlights ONLY have their own breaker in the switch

no 18 PINK is park/ tail/ dash lamp power coming to the switch from the fuse panel This also feeds to the dimmer, then, internally

With the park or headlights on, so the dimmer is active, power feeds OUT of the dimmer on no 20 TAN wire which only goes one place -- to the separate instrument fuse in the fuse block. Coming OUT of this fuse is ORANGE which branches off to feed all dimmer controlled lamps

The YELLOW wire is the grounding switch leg for the courtesy lamps, branched off to the door switches. So when you turn the dimmer "all the way" to turn on courtesy, this GROUNDS the YELLOW wire, turning on the courtesy lamps

Ok, i think im following you. So which one do i in line spice to supply varrying voltage to my aftermarket guage lights.... Off the fuse block or off the headlight switch.... Orange or pink

Unless the harness is all chopped up, the tan wire comes off the dimmer output, runs down to the fuse panel inst. fuse, goes through the fuse, and comes OUT on orange to all the dimmer controlled lamps. So you hook into orange coming out of the fuse panel.

Thats what i thought, and no the harness isnt all butchered, thank goodness for that. Thank you very much.
