DASH PAD REPLACEMENT

I’m looking to replace dash pad on my 64 Fury. The original pad is cracked in several places and makes the rest of the interior look bad. I wanted to hear feed back on experiences with purchasing replacement pads. I know there are cheap replacements which don’t have the steel frames as the originals did but I am interested in original type pads.

I don't think 64 Plymouth dash pads had any steel frame. I posted an original and rough used one for sale a while back. Got no interest, so ended up trashing it. But I am pretty sure it just had a foam rubber type pad inside. I don't remember any steel frame. I found a link to my old ad with pictures> ((EDIT: Looking at the pics, there MIGHT have been a thin strip where the clips are. But I cannot say for sure.))

I know there are two sellers on EBay that are selling them for big $$$$$.

Fwiw, on my 62, I pulled the pad, cut the cracks out, filled them with sprayfoam, sanded, used spray adhesive, and stretched extra seat material over it.

I have ordered a new pad and removed the old pad, now o just have to find a place to dye it.

I took mine to an upholstery shop and had my recovered in synthetic leather that looks a lot like the original vinyl. Got it done for $100

My new dash pad showed up today, I ordered it in primer so all I need to do is color it. There is a steel strip that runs the length of it for the mounting clips to mount to, just like the original.
