hello I have been putting in new gauges and when opened a metal horseshoe clip fell out I’m wondering where it goes thanks for the help

Does not look like anything I can relate to. What exactly did you open when this fell out? Looks rusty and hard to gauge its size. Maybe lay a coin along side of it and take a better pic.

How many times does someone lose small parts down the defroster openings? It's too bad it was not more valuable!

It almost looks like a reinforcement backer ring , like for cardboard or something, but not where you found it! Just as annoying to you as was to the guy that lost it and could not find it again!

Ive rebuilt 2 70 gauge clusters and never had that part. Doing my charger one now.

It's an internal component of an original ammeter.
