Can anyone tell me about the difference between these two woodgrain dash pieces? One should be for a 68 GTX, but I don't know where the other one came from.

Well, we know the models involved (I think), right?
    1968 and 1969 Sport Satellite & GTX
    1968 and 1969 Coronet R/T
There are a couple of threads on here about these woodgrain dash inserts from a member (forgive me, I forgot
who) who has done a lot of work towards perhaps reproducing some of these pieces.
I learned from him that the woodgrain is different year to year; 1968 is the lighter woodgrain, whereas 1969
is the darker/more well defined IIRC (I have some of each in my '68 GTX; the repro radio bezel out there is
    for 1969 I believe).

Thanks. I was curious as to why the piece on the left in my picture has wood grain that runs all the way to the edge, while the piece on the right stops at a black border.

I'm stumped by the piece on the left, and I've been researching these for years. Maybe that's a really early production piece or prototype. The color looks more 68 than 69.

I see new stuff every day. Today I found a radio delete plate for a Coronet 440. I always wondered what they did for radio-less cars. I have yet to see a wood grain radio delete plate.

BTW - No wood grain for 68 R/T's, only 69.

Thanks for the reply. I did read the thread on these dash pieces and learned quite a bit. I pulled the dash trim from several junkyard cars in the 80's, of course I didn't make notes on what they came from.

Another example of an unidentified left corner piece in black and silver:

I believe those are from 1969 Satellites. (Sport Satellites had the same wood grain as GTX's).

That jogs the memory, if I recall correctly I removed that one from a junked Satellite station wagon.

SoCal your inbox is full; how much do you charge for the 1968 woodgrain bezels for GTX (all dash pieces with stock radio) vs. without the radio section. LMK Thanks,

Any idea where I can find 69 GTX replacement?
My main concern is the piece above the glove box is copied in the to right hand corner at the screw

One more question. Do these trim pieces go with the 68 GTX dash wood grain?

Yes, I believe so. The chrome trim for sure. There were a couple versions of the plastic pieces. Are they ribbed on the back?

The black pieces you’re showing there are not for the 68 GTX. The 68 has a defined bend to it not a curved look like yours show. They’re also a translucent black with a kind of ribbing on the backside. They’re very hard to find pieces. I think the ones you show there are 69 no sure.

Yes, the pieces are ribbed on the back.

It's possible that they were pulled from a 69, but they were with a wood grain set that I pulled from a junked 68 a long time ago.

Personal opinion is if they fit use them. I tried 69s on my 68 and they didn’t look right. I tried repops and they didn’t look right. I then searched the planet and finally found OEM pieces in two different states that I paid handsomely for.

          SoCal440GTX,
Do you have the sets for a '68 GTX finished and for sale?
Your message box is still full so I couldn't just start a conversation and had to post here.
