Being a rabid baseball fan, and having grown up during his playing days and playing against the Chicago Cubs, he will be inducted posthumously in August into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Great batsmen and a cannon for an arm as he would cut down runners trying to score as he cannonaided the ball to the catcher to tag out the runner. The Heavens Baseball Team is aging a world-class player...RIP Dave...:praying::praying::praying::usflag::usflag::usflag:

As a kid growing up in Pittsburgh, #39 was one of my all time favorite Pirates. 1979 he was part of "The Lumber Company".
RIP

May he rest in peace.....but.....I have a friend with the same name and the first thing that popped into my peabrain was why would anyone here be posting about him....?

RIP Dave

albeit I don't remember that name specifically,
or I didn't follow Chicago especially &/or I don't ever follow the team/s from MLB now,
but it sounds like, he was a stand up dude/good player, by the article
back in the good days of the sport

I was too busy routing for my 9 times world champions (3x in Philly)
Oakland As 4 Xs 1972, 73, 74, 89

(Oakland Athletics back then, till about 1997, 4 season tickets
right behind 'the dugout' at 1st base line, for like 20 years since 1977
my dad had the season ticket since 1971 ? (IIRC)... When I took them over
I went to almost every home game, except weekends that I was usually,
out traveling for my racing or Lisa's rodeo
)
