No matter what you think about Bowie's lifestyle, he had a profound effect on the music of his time. He wrote and performed some great songs that are rock standards. RIP Mr. Bowie.

A gifted Actor I might Add. His Elephant Man was a cutting edge performance as well as Mr Lawrence...Think that was the name...where he played a young Attorney trying the Japanese for War Crimes. Excellent movie. His Stage and Broadway offerings also excellent. And finally let's not forget his duet with the immortal Bing Crosby and their rendition of Little Drummer Boy...Priceless. I liked his stuff from the mid 70s through the late 80s. After that, I can't recall anything that I liked. I wouldn't piss on the guys work though. Creativity will always have critics.
