Dear Abby

They have been having "fun" with this for a week on the A body side.

Here was my contribution-

Here's a dating tip if you want to raise the odds of your potential future wife being OK with your car hobby-

Date or marry a girl that drives a vehicle with a manual transmission.

NOT kidding. 100% serious.

My future wife drove a 5 speed s-10, owned an air compressor, and requested "Triumph" the first time I played songs from my music collection for her.

That covered my car hobby, my mechanical interests in general and assured a reasonable match on musical tastes.

Win, Win, Win.

When my wife (we've been together 46 years now) and I were dating, she would borrow my 71 convertible Challenger 340 4 speed, to go places. She still loves driving the car. She has helped me rebuild plenty of Mopars and is good at installing the new interiors. She repairs many things on her Dodge truck. She borrowed the car one time when we were dating and went for the day with another young woman who was a great friend and when she got back, she remarked "Do you know how easy it to pick up guys with this car?" I replied "No, but I know how easy it is to pick up girls when I'm driving it." We both had a good laugh. She shares my interests in cars now but had absolutely no interest in them when we started dating. She says if rebuilding old cars is my only time-consuming habit, she can live with that. It's been a great 46 + years.
