IMG_20130905_092101_421.jpgI just removed the (what I feel is) the ugly deck lid finish panel. There are, of course holes and I'm playing with the idea of filling those in and refinishing the deck lid. What is the best DIY approach for doing so? I have no body or paint experience.

I did the same thing to my '68 today! Had to see what it looked like, and I kinda like it. Makes the rear more "muscle car" IMO. Removed the "Sport Sat" trim and sail panel mouldings too. I'm on the fence re: the fender turn turn signal indicators though.

As for filling the holes, I'm going to have them welded. Don't know of any DIY method that'll last in the long run - I'm not taking the Bondo/JB Weld route on something as visible as the deck lid.

HA! What a coinc-i-dinc! My trim was for a Sport Satellite as well.

Let us know how it goes.
