not the way I'd approach it...

I did the same thing when I was a kid in my 62 dodge dart.

Poor deer, poor Challenger too...LOL

I prefer using a Winchester .270 personally

I'm a 7mm guy myself. Deer cause a lot of horror stories on the highways. Wouldn't want to hit one with the GTX or my DD for that matter. They cause a lot of damage.

Yeah we have here, Phoenix lake rd. & Middlecamp rd.'s
where we get a min of 10 road-kill dead deer each a month,
most of the people that live in the area, all know it's a superhighway
for wildlife/deer crossing too...

God forbid anyone slows down or watches out for them...

Allot of cases they just dart out in-front of cars/trucks thou, nothing you can do,
when they jump out of the brush right in-front of you...
Seems like my head is on a swivel when I'm driving here, seen & been in way
too many close calls & seen way too many dead deer or wrecked cars/trucks too...

Scared off deer after stepping on a stick or a leaf crumbling while your hunting them,
but then they just stand there, stop & staring at your car, no fear {wtf?}
like a deer in the headlights...LOL, when a 2-3+ ton car/truck comes
barreling down the road...

You'd think that over time they'd figure out ?,
or even get wise/use to it, after seeing all their buddies get killed !!,
That roads/hwy's mean cars & death, it's natural selection, the stupid animals,
get thinned out I guess...

With all the damn deer running around here, it's a miracle I've never hit one but I've came close a few times. What's scary are the elk that are upriver from my place. Those bastards are big and if you hit one with a car you are lucky if you don't get hurt or worse.

talk about big...seen a few moose in my travels.
My uncle hit one in his camaro. It crushed his roof a bit and rolled over the car, got up, shook it off and walked into the woods. He was very lucky!

With LEAD THEY'RE DEAD WITH CHROME??? THEY DON'T ROME!!!

Years ago, in Colorado, a Texas hunter had no luck during deer season and was on his way back home. About two miles from the game checkpoint on the highway, he hit a deer with his 4x4. Killed the deer dead as hell, and the deer was caught in the front grille guard. As that part of the highway was pretty narrow two-lane, he continued until he could find a wide spot in the highway to dislodge the deer...that wide spot was the game checkpoint.

The game warden couldn't help but notice the deer hanging off the front of the fellow's truck. The Texan told him what happened, and he asked if this counted as a "kill", even though it was with a truck! The game warden thought about it, and told him to put the tag on the ear, get the deer ready to go, and he could keep it.

This was back in 1978, and a buddy in school told us about this that Monday. I honestly don't know if that is 100% true or not; but given the history of Texas hunters in Colorado, I could believe it!

Here in MD, if you hit one with a vehicle, law enforcement will tag it and let you keep it if you want...regardless of the time of year.

No cop or trooper ever scared me like a deer back in my sportbike days. In Jersey, Rt. 72 going to Long Beach Island has a long(almost 3 miles)straight shot through the pines. The temptation to pin it on the GSXR was overridden by my fear of kissing a deer while covering almost a football field a second.
