Delivery problems American Powertrain....!!

Here's more on my story . . .

Are you talking about an order at American powertrain or in general...?

My order with APT was placed 7/28/2013 and paid in full - almost $3000 worth of parts.
- 2 weeks later I called to see where the parts were ( they're waiting on my transmission ) Uh, remember it's in my garage ( they didn't say I had to send it )
- So I pack it up, take it to UPS - they provided a RMA (?) and off it went to APT
- NOTE: they remove the tail housing from the trans and modify it so it'll fit into the B-body, no tunnel mods
- the machinist was dealing with cancer in the family and my trans mods were not able to get done ( send me my other parts - No, we'll do it all in one shipping )
- 6 months later I'm told parts shipping - take 1/2 day off work - no parts get shipped ( ? ? ? )
- call the next day, they found parts on the work bench with my name, so they called the UPS shipment back to put parts back in the trans ( that's a good thing )
- couple days later, it's shipping - take another 1/2 day off work to get my parts - no parts get shipped ( ? ? ? )
- call the next day, UPS destroyed the shipping box, the trans came out of the box, UPS returned it to APT ( no call to let me know )
- couple days later, the parts are shipping - boxes show up at the house ( YAY - 6 months later ) But 1/2 of the parts are missing.
- pedal assembly pic sent by APT shows full assembly ( get 2 pedals and a bracket )
- finally get a box shipped - got my flywheel
- finally get another box shipped - get my bell housing shipped
- after 9 months, I finally return the pedal assembly for a full refund and order pedal assembly from Brewers Performance and get most of my parts.
- refund took a while to post, bank changed my credit card and they had the old number on file - easily fixed !
- after all the delays, I'm told they're going to ship me a Wilwood master cylinder to make up for all the delays ( no sign of it yet - I'm hopeful )
- today is 6/11/2014, and I'm still waiting for shipment of my White Lightning shifter
- I'm still owed a drive shaft, but I'll need to get the engine in and rear end in place to get them a measurement

The White Lightning shifter was leaking, so they were working of fixing the leaking - that's fine, it's not holding up my progress even though it's been almost 11 months.

I've made a great new friend, that I've talked on the phone with weekly for almost a full year - things happen - we'll work our way through them, one at a time.
They have matched prices, and done a number of things to help me out and compensate me for the delays, and if I do get the Wilwood MC, that would be awesome !

As I said, anything that "could" go wrong . . . it did . . . but I worked with my salesman and we're getting them all worked out ! !

I feel for you... get another trans orders from jegs and have it on the way... cancel the order they have wasted enough of you're time.... something tells me they will be out of business soon or something like that.
If you used a credit card and the have the# replace the card you call the company after the money is right.

Do you have experience buying at "JEGS"....?
I mean...can they deliver in time ?

Call them again, and if Paul U, cannot fix your issue or at least give answers, ask him to talk to Gray Fredrick, Gray is the owner, but he is not there all the time. I am waiting on a 4L60E for my Roadrunner at this time, but I am not in any hurry for mine. they are just a few miles down the road from me in Tennessee and are good people and will make it right. Gray is on this forum sometimes and always will respond if he sees this thread.
I know they are having trouble getting bell housings from Quicktime.
I would not worry about them, but I would push them for truthfull answers.
PT in Tennessee

PT , yesterday I found Gray's email on another mopar forum. I emailed him and I have a personal letter on his way too, to explane about my situation. I really hope your right about them PT , and that we can work this out real quick. I red about "Gray" on the internet to learn that he's a car guy....that's always a good thing. .!

I will let you guys know as soon I get an answer. ...

First thing in the morning Gray got back to me , and we are in touch about this. If everything works out all gets shipped tomorrow. With or without bellhousing. ..cause that seems to be the last problem ...

will update as soon I have new information. ..

Info

i thought Gray would help as he seems to really want to continue a good reputation. i know i am waiting on my 4L60E and they have told me they cannot get the quicktime bell housing. i am only two hours from their shop, and they know i will show up if needed. i have been to their shop and met everyone, so the shop, and the people really does exist in Cookville, TN. i know Gray has told me they were having a hard time getting the Quicktime bellhousings, so that may be some of the problem. Gray also has another business that does older jaguars. he has a Charger in the shop they are doing for SEMA, so no question about being a real car guy and not just a mail order house.
I know i sound like i work for them, but didnt even know them until i almost bought a 4L60E from Keisler Engineering just two weeks before they filed for bankruptcy.
i feel better that you may be headed in the right direction.

The bellhousing came in and all is shipped to WV today as promised. Got my shipping codes in the mail today too so...finally some good news !! It will take another 8 or 10 weeks befor I can get my hands on it but hey....

Thanks everyone here for your help and support. .!!

Just to post a little update on this story - One year ago today I ordered the shifter - and I still have not received it.

I know I am late to this party but I have to chime in.

I began my project the last week of April and as of today I have yet to complete it. I also ordered my TKO 600 5 speed kit from American Powertrain and was told by Paul that I would have it in 3 weeks. It took 9... When I did receive the transmission, the bellhousing and tunnel patch were missing and the flywheel was incorrect!

As of today, I have hit yet another snag. I was told that when I ordered my kit, all of my OEM parts would be compatible, well that is nothing but BS! My OEM Z-Bar is noway, nohow going to work and I have to disassemble the entire drivetrain.

The bottom line is NOTHING fits and EVERYTHING has to be modified......

Hope this story doesn't make it to our "Buy American" thread.......:argue:

After reading this thread, I'm very leery of ordering from American Powertrain. I hate when companies lie. I can't stand getting screwed over after they get my money. I have some horror stories but they pale in comparison to some of the above. I prefer ordering from Summit Racing or Jegs.

Update, I was able to grind a nut and fit it into an area to attach the OEM ball pivot and USE me Z bar! Thank God for that because removing the drivetrain was going to be a huge pain in the *** and this was a small modification. I still think that companies need to disclose engineering issues an stop the "bolts right on BS". Another thing, make sure all the parts in the "kit" are actually there..... I mean seriously, when I was trying the install the pivot fork stamped "B body", it wasn't even close to lining up with the imput shaft. I thought maybe I needed a different fork so I made some calls, a tech guy from Brewsters told me that the pivots were stamped incorrectly at the factory and the "A body" pivot was what I needed to use and he was correct. I sent an email to the bellhousing mfg Quictime to complain and was contacted by its founder "Ross". Ross claimed to have no knowledge of this stamping issue, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Did I mention that I had to drill out the hole to mount the Z bar piviot ball stud that is 9/16"" and the hole on the bellhousing that was drilled 1/2", on the car? A note in the box telling me to do this before the drivetrain was installed would have been nice, right? I sent off another email to Quicktime and I'm sure I will get this response, "we haven't heard anything about that problem". Yeah, I'm the onle guy in the country with a Roadrunner that has a ball pivot stud that is 9/16"!

I don't understand the supply issues. The guy on "Gearz" had two he was going to be giving choice of to the corvette owner featured on the show. Must have extras laying around to be doing that .
Hate to be sarcastic, but..............

I see my posts on this thread have been deleted, why? They were the truth, nothing more.

I was reading the last posts and was like...... some good news woud'n hurt here:icon_wink::

Additional Update . . . 14 months after my order and payment . . .

Today's date is 10/2/2014 - 14 Months, and 4 days after my initial order and payment for my parts from AP - I got a package int he mail today and the "original order" stated a White Lightning performance shifter ( which I have heard all kinds of stories of it leaking ) - I got a shifter, it was not the White Lightning shifter as ordered, I don't really know what it is, there are no labels on the unit.

And, after all the waiting, and the Wilwood master cylinder that was promised to me multiple times for all of the delays - was NOT in the box - now, why does that not surprise me ? ? ? ?

Now AP still owes me a driveshaft for my Belvedere, but I need the engine and rear end in the car to get a measurement -

I sure hope the delivery on it goes a "little bit faster" then the shifter delivery ? ?

17 months later - no resolution - I'm through

after waiting for almost 17 months for American Powertrain to fix the errors that they made with their parts shipping, and the White Lightning shifter ( check the web and see how many of them leak ) that I've never received, or the "Red Robin" shifter ( can't even find it on the web ) that was sent in it's place - by the way that is Bait-and-Switch and I've had enough.

I've asked for a full refund of the shifter and the driveshaft that I've never ordered nor received from them.

Let's see how long it takes them to process this refund request . . by the way here's what it says on their website:

17 months is well within their 2-year installation grace period . . . let's see how this goes ? ? ? ? ?
