Dear Desert Valley Auto Parts,
Thank you for making sure to play part in the failure of my attempt to finally, after years of hard work, money and time, paint my beloved 1966 charger.

This car, to me, is more than just an old car, old mopar and NOTHING I am restoring to make money on. This car is a labor of love and finishing it is a personal hurtle. My entire family from my 5 year old son to my elderly father are assisting in this restoration. I find (sat on the hood of my dads 66 charger at age 3 to hand him wrenches) that most folks into these 1966, 1967 dodge chargers feel that the cars are more than just a car....they are almost a part of their family. I should know. My dad had atleast 20 of these cars while I was growing up.

Needless to say my gas filler door and hinge has not arrived. I am just writing this letter to say basically, thanks for nothing. I realize I am not chip foose, this isnt a television show and that my money isnt green enough. I mean, you sure as hell took enough of it.....for a basic part.

Today I called after ordering my gas filler door on 8/8/12, paying a "rush" fee for someone to go out and unscrew the two screws that hold in into the many, many, many parts chargers you have in your yard (and probably paid nothing more than scrap prices for) and paying for two day shipping only to have the part NOT show up as my painter waits, mixing the paint for my car.......

I then logged onto fedex and checked my tracking number and wow....scheduled delivery 8/14/12.....I really shouldnt have to babysit these folks, if I thought I needed to I would have logged in earlier...

I guess most of this is my fault, as NICK at DVAP told me on the phone he shipped it out 8/8/12, should be there....told me to take it up with FEDEX, should of had it over nighted....according to this specialist (parts counter idiot)....and he could basically give a f*&*!!!!

Thanks for nothing, again, DESERT VALLEY AUTO PARTS.

Dan Starkey (the guy that everyone will spot because his KK1 painted charger will PROBABLY be the only one out there with a different shade gas cap door........)

Thanks for the rant folks and FYI this was my experience with DVAP. We are each our own men, but I can tell you this MAN will never order another item from them.

you tell them Dan... I hope you get your parts soon... I hope you paid by credit card, so you have protection, so you can refuse special shipping charges, or be credited for a refund, if they don't show up...

Yeah, I know but it is more than just that to me.

You know I remember when I was young and walking around neighborhoods or riding my bike (in the late 80s, early 90s) and I would be so excited when I would spot an old mopar........Id do my best to check it out, imagine what I would do to it and think that maybe, someday I would own one......

Then you have scabs like DVAP get into this "hobby" and just take the heart out of it.......

another lame show with spoiled rotten son who probably never worked a day in his life

:argue:

wow, such a mess. Glad to know what kinda people dvap are. And their show blows goats. That green charger was horribly done. I recorded the show and watched as the purchaser drove away in slow motion. I went frame by frame. The door wasn't fitting right and the lower quarter panel looked like a wavy lays potato chip. Not to mention they threw that headliner in right covering that heavily rusted roof. I know they do these cars in 2 weeks, but its a waste. Any hobbyist could slob together a car like that. I sent them a message about charger emblems and they didn't have them or I probably would've been a victim as well. Good luck with your project and thanks for the heads up court

Sorry to hear about your experience with DVAP. I too ordered parts from them but had a completely different experience. I ordered a full trunk pan for my 1967 Charger and they were very helpful. The cost wasn't too bad (other than shipping due to size and weight) for what it was and rust free and dent free. For the record, I watched one show and that was more than enough. Hope you get it worked out.

I just don't get the "rush fee". That's getting a bit too nit picky for me.

Here are pics of it as it sits, awaiting paint (postponed until the fuel door comes and a new gallon of 2055 clear because my old one was contaminated).

NOTE THE MISSING FUEL DOOR LOL

I will post a picture of it when it is painted, cut and buffed.

I priced out a rear window regulator from DVAP, they were priced high in my opinion. I posted here for parts wanted and purchased what I needed from a member...@ about the same price...but I did get everything for the window, not just the regulator ..and it kept the $$ in the "family" if you will.
I always check here for parts first.

Good luck with your project.

I wish that was a picture of my Charger waiting for paint, mine is still waiting to go to the body shop. Nice job sir, you will be rewarded for your troubles with a beautiful car to share with your family.

those are the very same crooks that wanted 400.00 YES FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS for a 1977 cordoba TRUNK LID PLUS another 200 to ship it. i found it a couple weeks later locally from pull n pay for 45 bucks.

Exactly my point.

Crack must be cheap in that area.

I live in the phoenix area and most people here will not deal with them because their prices are to high and they are arrogant. Let them know that you are spreading the word about them and have the people from here e-mail them. With all the cars they have they could have pulled another one and sent it to you, just good PR. Also it could be the shpping company,I would see what happens monday.

Anyone In Their Right Mind Who Has Watched Them Coble Together One Of Those "Auction Cars" On Their TV Show Would Not Deal With Them In Any Way, Shape Or Form! That Show Drives Me Nuts!:icon_fU:

After seeing their show on TV, I definitely would not do busy business with those numb nuts.
The cars they throw together is junk, and and done half assed. the owner and son, no less the rest of the staff that works there do a good job at making them look like a bunch monkeys screwing a football.

That Charger they did for the show barely ran a 19 second quarter mile. What the heck did they do to make that 383 run so terrible?

I got one order from them, then never heard from them again on the other stuff they were "locating" in their other yard. Got tired of calling them back, so i gave up on them!!!

The others, including Mopar City, Stevens Performance, WildCat auto wrecking, and one near Boise are all happy to take your list of stuff and say they will locate them and never call you back, but never do. I am just amazed how they actually stay in business. So, i dont deal with yards anymore.

They put a 383 in it? Oh crap, I thought they put a 350 Chevy in it like every other retarded car builder would.

Rev, Maybe they did... "barely ran a 19 second quarter mile" :)
