I've always said
"My ideal place a 5 car garage with AC/Heat, a shower, kitchenette, TV & a comfy bed & chair in the corner"

I see no problem with that idea whatsoever.

If one is worried about their house burning down and perhaps lighting the garage on fire --as a down side --it makes me scratch my head.

No brainer, detached and not even close to the house! I like burning the midnight oil and with the noise I make with tools, motors and music the wife would kill me besides I want it as inconvenient as possible for anybody to come out and bother me.

I'd have to go with detached......

One of our regular customers just texted me a pic of his garage that burnt down last nite...... His 69 Coronet R/T is toast(aaarrrrrgggghhhh!!!!)....good thing his Challenger wasn't in there at the time.

I use my pole barn for my toys and the attached is for the daily driver.

We use the attached for the daily cars, or overflow of inventory. My detached has the front with enough room to work comfortably on 2 cars, and store my bikes.[24X36, A/C, heat, carpet] The rear 1/2 is where the lift is, and we can store another 4 back there.[5 with another lift] It's semi-cold storage. It seems there's never enough room, anyways.

Nice car!

Detached garage for me. I've created a couple of fires around my shop. It's about 40 feet from the house but I couldn't get it any further away unless I built it across the back yard. It's 28x52'. You also never know when a car is going to decide to burn itself up. Seen it happen starting with a 64 Ford Galaxie back in 66. It doesn't happen often but it does from time to time. Hope it never happens because what's inside my shop is worth a lot more than what's inside my house but my house is my sleeping and living quarters when I'm not living in the shop :D
