Hey guys, just got a shipment from classic industries and I immediately ran out to the garage with it like a kid with a new set of toys. I basically got a bunch of weatherstripping stuff, new big block inner fender splash guard, door hinge springs, and other rubber pieces.

So I unpacked the door springs and compared them to the hinges I have and I think I got the wrong ones. Can anyone confirm this, and if so, what I should return these in replacement for?

Also, does anyone happen to have a picture of their inner passenger side fender of the engine bay? This splash guard seems oversized and I'm not sure if it's suppose to be trimmed or hang in a different way than i'm thinking.

thanks!

Sorry, forgot to mention it's for a 73 road runner.

My 66's look like that except for the 90's have a bit more radius....

So what kind of springs do I need for that kind of hinge? Anyone have a similar hinge with their spring in there? Maybe I need the entire hinge replaced? I was so excited to have doors that wouldn't swing wildly anymore. Thanks for the info so far yall

Yes, wrong spring, that I believe is 74 and later. Here are 73 hinges, don't let the part number fool you, they use it for 71-73 from AMD, and this is whats on my 73.

Also, can you post a picture of which splash guard you are referring?

Thanks guys. I need to check out that rebuild kit, looks like all the parts I need for the hinge I have.

This is the part i'm talking about. I got the new one laying there and it seems to line up perfectly up top. Does it tuck into the rail below or does it drape over it? Or is it suppose to be trimmed?

That looks right, but I don't know as I have a small block, not a big block, but I know the big blocks are cut differently than small block, hopefully someone with big block will chime in.

My 74 got the S spring hinge kind. It seems to be a later production. I had to get NOS bottom hinges because couldn't find a rebuilt kit for them

About the inner fender opening.. SB cars got a splash shield like the dirver side one. The rubber shield on the big opening is just on BB.

This rubber shield just drops over the frame rail and the frame rails SHOULD GET the holes to the clips too. The rubber shield got some clip holes too on bottom. Is also cut to trim a bit over the frame rail

Perfect thats exactly what i wanted to know! Thank you both

My 73 Charger had the one you have. Seems those years were intalled with either, probably which plant they were built at. St. Louis seemed to use the one like we have.

That's quite interesting. Wouldn't see that in todays manufacturing! haha.

Anyone need a new pair of door springs? lol

73's could have either style. S spring type seems more prevalent on later build dates.

That's interesting, it must be way later build dates as my 73 was built in April of 73, which I thought was late as the early builds i believe started in late 72.

Got it all hooked up. I don't think this was intended for headers like these though, it bulges out and touches one of the tubes. I'm going to the hardware store tomorrow to rig up a piece of aluminum in the fender well to bolt the middle of the liner to and pull it away from the headers.

I also just finished installing the weather stripping I ordered from classic. It's so nice to have windows that don't rattle when I close the door!

I hear ya! Its nice when things work again. My 73 I bought in 83 and it already had busted hinges, so the doors would not stay open, it only took me 30 years to replace them when I rebuilt her, and now sometimes I just stare at the doors because they can stay open on their own! hahahahahaha
