Distributor gizmo?

Anyone know what this blue part is ? Its on a tach drive distributor i found on ebay. Is it to eliminate slot slack ?

Never seen one. MAYBE it's for a B/RB adapter for the length difference between the 2 blocks.
 
The tabs on the adapter don't key into the intermediate shaft slot though.
 
It is supposed to stabilize the up and down movement, Doesn't work that is all in the oil pump drove. Just a 1/2" stop collar you can get almost at ant hardware store. You have to watch them the allen screw comes out and it is also unbalanced. I just toss them when I get them on a core. Tghe one on the bottom is being used as a shaft collar. Wonder if the weight toasted the shaft bushings yet?
 
Its one of those things "for the man who has everything" !! I guess it would be handy if the pin through the gear broke !!
