Did that just now. Found number 6 not steady replaced wire. Six is now Steady but still intermittent miss. I also tried it on the ignition coil wire toward distributor, I see a loss of light longer than normal right before the skip. I am not sure if measuring the coil is helpful.

Yes I did after you suggested it, number six was unstable and replaced the wire and is now stable. Still intermittent miss. I did notice on the ignition coil a drop of light then the skip. Replaced coil and it is still present.

UPDATE: Sorry for the delay, I had to replace speedometer cable and it looked like my speedometer had lost its calibration to 0 so it was centered on 60. I also ended up with a voltage regulator problem so had to track that down. It is running steady now with only a very intermittent sputter. Some of the odd symptoms are as follows:

* Some times after it sits for a bit (a hour or two), if I start it, it will catch but it sort of runs slow then seems to get in sync then rev up to run at idle smoothly.

* Is the timing I described, +10 with carb and advanced capped, and +15 with advance correct (5.2L 318, 67 dodge coronet)

* I have replaced the break pedal switch, but it seems the pedal will not come back to high unless I pull it with my foot. Is there something to adjust the break pedal or is there a piston that is needing replacement?

* What do you all use for a clogged window washer jet?

* where can I get a braided block grounding wire?

I have a 67 Coronet 440, 318 also and had a similar problem, bought it having been sitting and did a simple tune up ( carb, plugs, wires, alternator, ) and it would start and idle fine but for some reason would die out right when I step on the gas (especially while in reverse) I ended up buying a Hei electric distributer and that solved the problem. Idk If this will help but I wish you good luck -Thequickster

Can anyone let me know if the timing I described above is correct? It runs strong but there is that intermittent skip. I have not tried an electric ignition but did replace the entire distributor system which helped a lot.

I didn't read all of this, but what I know from experience years ago, the crossover would cake up in the intake manifold, caused driveability problems on cars we'd get in the shop.
