While it's nice to see that you're concerned about the environment, you should be relieved to know that U.S. coal consumption dropped over 24% from 2016 to 2020. It's unlikely that new power sources will burn coal, only one coal fired plant has gone up in the U.S.A. in the last six years, and that was completed in 2018. Newer plants are more likely to be natural gas.Oh, boy! Dodge is going to join the rest of the idiot car makers and build a coal fired POS that you won't be able to drive because they're closing down all of the coal mines. How long is the toxic battery good for? How much are taxpayers going to have to subsidize this eco terrorist vehicle?
In memory only. There's still a Chrysler Corp????

Don't be fooled. If you read the article, you'll note that the estimated increase is based over 2020 which, like everything else, had a sharp decline due to the Covid shutdown. Other parts of that article mention things like: "2021 production forecast declines for fourth straight month", and "Houston — The US is estimated to produce 581.2 million st of coal in 2021" This compares with 775 million st produced in 2017, and 1,117 million in 2008.
This entire push to electric is just sad. Another knee jerk reaction to a hypothetical problem.Oh, boy! Can they make it reliable? Will they backup their reliability claims with an industry-leading warranty? Will it have an attractive selling price? Can I leave it in my garage without fear of it catching fire and burning down the house?
Could have fooled me.

On a related note, there is coal in the U.S. that is low in sulphur. We don't consume much of low sulfur coal in the U.S. because it can be sold overseas at a premium price. Japan is (was?) one of the buyers. This is what I was told by someone involved in the mining/weighing/shipping of coal from West Virginia.
The goal is and has been for about 50yrs, to destroy the automobile. Have you seen the movie Soylent Green? Global Warming as an excuse to force everyone to live in the city...where they can control you much easier. The car gave US freedom and the clowns "in charge" really hate that.
Chrysler Corporation Space Division is forever a part of history. There's still a Chrysler Corp????
You do know electric cars are automobiles? Soylent Green? You are basing your argument on an old Sci fi movie? Instead? At least use Star Trek as an example? Societal efforts to better ourselves. By fact based evidence in pursuit of truth. The goal is and has been for about 50yrs, to destroy the automobile. Have you seen the movie Soylent Green?
