I carry therefore when i,m out and about I dont argue with idiots.Dont feel the need to prove myself. I feel secure in the fact that when I walk away I am saving them from harm.Having been nearly beat to death by two rednecks over a parking space I consider it like an American express card.I dont leave home without it. I thought I was pretty tough too and i,m not small but when assaulted by multiple people you dont have time to call 911. Depends where you live too. Houston isnt as forgiving as some other places.

The problem with guns is you have people like Zimmerman and the guy who killed his own son outside his house two weeks ago.... untrained people taking mattters into their own hands an innocent lives being lost due to it.

I own a gun or two but I dont carry or feel a need to carry, I'm not insecure and I'm not looking to be a hero. Yes there are some situations that one might think : If I had a gun this wouldnt have happened.. but unless you're trained to shoot and kill people and know when to ... you shouldnt be stepping in... Look what happened in NY with trained professionals... shooting a guy with a knife and 7 innocent bystanders were all shot by the cops instead of the guy with a knife.. and they had training... last thing I want to see is some jackass pull his pistol to stop a fist fight and 4 elementary school kids get shot by accident.
I think its time we go in the other direction for a while and see how that plays out. Strict gun control.. you actually have to pass tests and interviews to see if you are a threat to other people. We've already seen enough of the NRA's way.. how many thousands of more moms need to cry? I dont want to hear the lames *** argument of only criminals will have guns.. thats a crutch and cop out for the NRA. How about not letting guns get into the hands of the criminals in the first place.

It would be intersting to see a comparison to gun related deaths in various countries with different gun controls.. like the UK vs the US... when those limies get all liquored up and start brawling how many get shot to death vs what happens here ( and I am not directing it at you rusty at all)

Zimmerman and the NY crap is a sorry excuse to man up on. We'll never know all the facts on the Zimmerman deal and what a bunch of morons with the NY thing. And I've always liked to blow **** up but I don't use guns to do it.

Amen to that! I also have my CHL and 'never leave home without it' but I also know when NOT to use it. I'm an X military cop and have had training in 'gun control' other than military and not to mention I had a very good CHL instructor. A good buddy of mine asked me if I was paranoid and told him not in the least. The father of my girl friend got killed back in 69 from some guy in his own home. He owned a gun but kept it unloaded and well, the attack killed him and by a knife! A good friend of mine was paralyzed from the waist down when he got shot by an x husband of a woman he met and started dating. She was divorced from the asshole and he shot him 3 times. I have a few more stories but what for? You can have my guns when my body is stone cold dead. The people who think that law abiding citizens shouldn't have the right to carry let alone own weapons are just without a clue.

Having been raised by a San Francisco cop I agree with much of your thinking and ideal result, but one thing we seem to never be short of are criminals and their uncanny ability to get stuff that is illegal. No one can tell you how a bad situation will go down unless they just got out of a bad situation, and my dad has been in a couple, but in his 30 yrs. he never had to shoot and kill someone. It takes a special person to carry a gun and know exactly when to use it or not to use it. The damage that has been done to society has been decades in the making and will take twice as long to fix if it can be fixed at all.
