Well, it's a little under two weeks to go. Safe travels from your home gravels to soak in the world's best Muscle and factory race car show and forget about all the world's troubles for at least a few days.
A couple friends and I will be driving in on Friday, hitting the show Saturday and heading home Sunday. It's been a few years since I've gone so I'm really looking forward to it.
At the moment, getting to the Windy City on the 20th via plane is not looking too promising right now. Under normal circumstances it would be very easy to get myself there - I'm 20 min. from my regional airport which flies directly to O'hare. Once in the air it's about a 2hr flight and the convention center is essentially at the airport.
I'm going to give it a few more days to make a decision but my gut tells me I'll be getting up at zero dark thirty to meet up with the Nutty Professor here to hoof it out there for 15 hours on the road.
Hoping against hope that this nonsense will get sorted out soon. There's too much invested in and around the show to cancel it but it would be a huge bummer if it ends up affecting attendance or Thanksgiving for that matter.
It is a great show and something you should experience at least once. Been there twice. I might have to go back with an electric scooter or 2 new knees.
I hear from Tom at Rocket Restos on youtube that a factory 6bbl 1970 Sport Fury GT he is fixing up is going to be in the barn finds section this year!! According to his channel it looks like its comin out great, I hope someone gets some pictures of it please.
