I closed my driver side door and heard a metallic clink. Went to open my door and realized the door handle button fell in to the door frame. I am guessing the door panel has to come off the fix it.

I am wondering if it can just be fixed without replacing the whole handle. Is the button attached permanently or screwed onto the handle so that it can be repositioned?

The bolt that holds it in place probally came unscrewed, I've seen that happen many times. Just make sure to use some thread locker on it when you put it back together and you will never have that problem again

I have to take the door panel off and see if I can find the button inside of the door frame. I did find a large bolt in my driveway that may have held the button onto the handle.

here is a picture of a b body door handle, the button is held in place with a screw in the picture, it likely the screw came undone and dropped to the bottom of the door with the button and spring. I've use a long magnet to get the screw from the bottom of the door. It is an easy fix.

Trim parts used to be in Milford ohio, i interviewed for part time job there and had the job, but something better came along. But the guy there said i could make my own door handles there for free. At that time they cast them polished and believe plated them all in house. It was and still is first class stuff.

I bet the screw worked itself out the mechanism and arm dropped to the side etc and the button hit the bottom of the door....

You may just have to find the screw and button....A shorty screw driver can reattach it without removing the handle.....maybe put a little loctiite on the screw.....Yes, the door panel has to come off

Best reproduction handles at a good price is Dales Cuda Shop.....
