I don't know what the name of this part is, but it's broken. It's for the lower left door hinge on my 77 Cordoba. What is it called? Where can I find one? It kind looks like the sort of thing Dorman's would have. Thanks.

Removed from hinge. Right now it's not doing anything.

I think they are called just what you called them, a door hinge torsion bar spring. If you have a couple of hours to kill try going to a parts store and explaining it to the kid behind the counter. LOL!

My 77 driver's door one was broken too when I got the car. I couldn't find a new one anywhere, so I got one off a parts car. They are specific to each side. Problem is, I can't get it in with the door on. There is not enough room to get enough leverage on a screwdriver or prybar to get the bottom loop into the hole. I tried to take the bottom hinge out but it won't come loose because of all the body putty.

I hate to take the door all the way off because they are very heavy and I hate to have to try to get it re-aligned. I almost think it would be easier to take off the front fender. Oh well, it's one more thing I said I would fix this summer and haven't yet.

It's been that way for some time I guess and I just noticed it today. I guess it's more trouble then it's worth. I'll get along without it.
